Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to do anything before a session?
The suggestions I usually give to people are to bring a bottle of water in case you get thirsty, try to relax, meditate, or focus on being mindfull for a few minutes before leaving your house or after you have safetly parked your car. Please do not perform any of these while your focus is needed elsewhere, for example while driving. The goal of these are to bring you into the moment, so the stress or mental clutter from the day will not interfere with your session. These are only suggestions and there are no actions required before a session.
Do I need to do anything during a session?
The session will begin after we've talked at the beginning of our appointment and last up until a few minutes before the session ends. Doing it this way will give us some time to review anything you would like to discuss. If an hour is not enough time, you may contact me at least 1 day before you would like your appointment and I'll create a longer time slot for you.
When it is time for your session, I usually suggest that people lay down or sit on a bed, couch, chair, or anywhere you will be comfortable, safe, and able to relax for the full time we agreed upon. Because you may fall asleep during a session I suggest you find proper support, so if you slide down or fall over, you won't be hurt. For in person sessions there is a chair or massage table available.
While performing sessions at a distance, I will not begin or continue a session if you are in a situation where your full attention is required outside of our session. For example, cooking, driving, babysitting, etc. There are many reasons for this including accidents but another example is that it can prevent you from being in a relaxed state and enjoying the session. You may also want a blanket near by in case you get cold or some water if you get thirsty.
What might I experience during a session?
Sessions can be as different for each person as night and day. Some people feel physically better after a session while others may feel more relaxed and calm emotionally. People have described their sessions by seeing animals, colors, or other things while feeling warm, cold, or like they are slightly vibrating. There are many other visual, audio, or physical sensations that can be seen, heard, or felt but what is listed above were more common. I will also share if I saw, felt, or heard anything with you.
If you have any questions or concerns about if a session is right for you, I encourage you to reach out to your doctor and have a full discussion before making an appointment with me.
Do I need to do anything after a session?
Take the time you need to feel comfortable after before making big movements. You can write down if you experienced something in a journal for your records if you'd like to. Some people are thirsty, hungry, or tired. Pay attention to how you feel and follow your best judgment for what you would like to do next.
Are individual classes available as well as group classes?
Yes, Group and individual classes are available. The cost for individual classes will be slightly higher than groups because it will be roughly the same amount of time to prepare for and teach each class.
Do I get a certificate at the end of each class?
Reiki certificates are required to show your current ability and level completed for when you want to continue learning through Master Teacher level. At that point, you can officially teach Reiki as well as practice it. I give certificates for each level of Reiki at the end of class, provided you are able to perform Reiki on yourself and another student or me. If you have trouble performing Reiki by the end of class, I will schedule a 1 hour additional study session where you can practice and we can review any of the material that you would like help with. This is available in an individual or group setting. At the end of that class I will give you your certificate. The only cost for the additional class will be how much is needed to rent space. That is usually $30 - $50 and will be split among the group or required of the individual.
Do I need to bring anything to class?
For Reiki classes, you will need to bring any food or water you want in a temperature controlled bag. I do not have access to a refridgerator for storing items in. I would suggest bringing a small stuffed animal to practice hand placements on for individual sessions. You can also practice on a picture of someone if you do not have a stuffed animal. Make sure you have permission to practice Reiki on them before you bring it to class. If the picture is of a person who has passed that works just as well. I will provide notebooks, pens, and a binder to store the printed Reiki manual in. Massage tables and metal fold out chairs will be provided for practicing hand positions and sending Reiki to people.
Why was I sent a request to provide a testimonial and what type of information should I include?
You were sent a request to write about my services for two very helpful reasons. First, I would like to know how your experience was and if there is any additional information you would like to share. Second, testimonials can help other people who are interested, decide which service is right for them.
The information that would be helpful is: What was the experience like for you? Did you enter the session with any expectations? If you did, how was your experience compared to your expectations? You can add any additional information you would like.
I appreciate whatever you feel comfortable sharing. If you do not want to share your experience, you can delete the email. If you would like to share your experience with me but do not want it made public, you can write that at the top of your reply and I will not post it.
Testimonials may appear on any of the outlets (My website, facebook, etc.) I use for my business including advertising. I may not display the entire testimonial submitted but will take shorter clips of it to display on those outlets. Not all testimonials submitted will be displayed.
